Woman's Best Friends

Expectant parents!

Follow up to practice with camera

Per the magic of blogging, the explanation of these pics is below in the next blog. Just keep scrolling down.

The above shot turned out nicely with color removed.

Wide Angles and Filters

The following pics are of the homeplace. Nothing special in the way of material. However, I am beginning to practice with the lenses that I purchased from a blog friend that had just purchased them for her Nikon 5400 then her family gifted her with a new camera for the holidays. These shots were all taken with my new wide-angle lens and various filters designed to enhance color and light.

You can see the edges of the lens in the corners of the pictures so I think that I must need to set the camera differently to account for this problem. I'll research this tomorrow on the net. Today was a phenomenal opportunity to capture good color even without the filters. The sun was setting and a front of clouds had moved off to the east giving me great contrast between the reds, golds, blues, and browns.

Poor Poor Maggie

Maggie is pregnant again-I know but she just won't take her pills on a daily basis-I make a strong swearing statement that after this bunch, everyone around here is getting fixed. Well, Eddy and I don't count as we were fixed years ago. Eddy was snipped and then low and behold a couple of years later, I had to be emergency fixed. Hardly seems fair to the man!
Well, back to the dogs. I can't take more than three at a time so all of these fair puppies will have to be sent out into the big cruel world. The three that I have drive me crazy barking at the woolies that hide in the darkness just outside the rim of light cast by the plantation spotlights around here. I'll keep all my readers updated on this continuing saga of pregnancy around here.

Dashes of Color

Wet dripping days leave me yearning for something to photograph-by adding a backlight to my crabapple tree, you can highlight the bird's nest that has been in the tree for 3 summers now-please excuse the water droplet on the lens..
The shrub that I don't even know the name of, turns a red delicious color in the winter and stays that way until it turns warm.

If we make it to December

The seedpod of my Siberian Elm tree(shrub)

Rose hips captured on my belly looking up at the willow tree that the rose climbs.
I read at a photog site that late December and early January make for great photo times because the angle of the sun augments the colors instead of washing them out as summer sun does. These photos were taken either early in the morning late in the evening right before sundown.
